Green Total Factor Productivity of Dairy Farming in China: Based on the Perspective of Scale Heterogeneity

Dairy farming has become one of the most important industries for China’s national economic development, but dairy process emits large amounts greenhouse gases, which accelerate effect. Improving green production efficiency is harmonious development between and environmental protection. This paper explores evolutionary characteristics GMLMI (Green total factor productivity farming) in terms scale heterogeneity based on data from 2007 to 2018 27 major dairy-producing provinces (municipalities directly under central government) China, considering negative output indicators using super-efficient SBM-GML index model. The results show that 1) 2007–2018 highest medium scale, followed by lowest small scale. regional distribution region, eastern western region. 2) shows a positive increasing trend 2018, decomposition three scales (small, medium, large) perform differently, indicating there are differences ways enhance scales. 3) meta Frontier surface different those group surface, with being lower overestimated. Finally, this proposes policy recommendations how improve overall cattle China.
